Hostel Gonzo - Sarajevo

They went out of their way to be friendly & helpful

The location is terrible, impossible to find (had to hire a taxi to drive in front of our car to find location). The beds were sofas and very uncomfortable, the curtains were very shabby & bathroom was awful. To use the toilet one had to go 2 very steep steps up (running the risk of slipping on the tile & hurting ourselves quite badly), the shower had no curtains, was clogged, and all the water was spilling out, barely any light in the room. The breakfast was below minimum expectations

Excellent value for the money. The owner spoke vey good English and was very helpful with sights, confirming costs for the bus, tram, or taxi. The hostel was not located in the center, but was only a 15-minute bus or tram ride from the center. It is a 10-minute tram ride from the train / bus station. It is in a residential neighborhood so it is quiet and away from the tourist center and you could soak up a bit more of the local atmosphere. Large supermarkets are nearby. Walk along the river is nearby, too. Breakfast buffet was simple, but very good and filling. The wi-fi signal was very strong. NB: there appear to be 2 "Hostel Gonzo" in Sarajevo; there is another one in the town center. Be sure to clarify which one you have made your booking.
